Lower Prices of Goods Expected in Kenya as Energy Supply Rises

Presidents of Rwanda and Kenya, Paul Kagame and Uhuru Kenyatta unveiling the biggest geothermal plant in the world

VENTURES AFRICA – Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta, Thursday, commissioned Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited (KenGen)’s 140 MW Olkaria I Unit 4 & 5 Geothermal Power Plant in Naivasha, a town in Nakuru County. The plant is the last phase of the 280MW Olkaria geothermal power project.

Kenyatta gave Kenyans his word that the price of goods will come down, as the cost of power drops. He said the completion of the plant was a big step in his government’s move to scale up power generation by 5,000 megawatts.
