The Real Wakanda: Africa Rising Through Innovation and Technology

Unless you have been living under a rock, or have been in a coma, The Black Panther Movie has been breaking records even before official releases. Black Panther has fueled momentum not only as a social movement, but also a re-imagination of Afro-futurism. Although some insist on the portrayal of Wakanda as mere fantasy, a very progressive and innovative Africa is undeniable across the continent,as transportation, infrastructure, and health advancement through technology and innovation becomes the central focus in a massive revitalization effort. African nations have seen a significant increase in interest from Western and Asian counterparts -as access to information, and research funding indicate a drastically changing landscape across the mother-land in the very near future. African nations are skipping the pitfalls in learning curves endured by developed nations, and are reaping the benefits of lessons learned through a multifaceted approach to problem solving from a societal and technological perspective. Technology and undiscovered/untapped/underutilized natural minerals  are sure to be integral to the future African  landscape, commerce, and telecommunications. Therefore, if you still think Wakanda, and the idea of Afro-futurism is simply an imagination, think again. Just as every great creation we experience as a norm was once a hopeful idea, Africans both across the Continent and in the diaspora are awakening to a reinvigorated enthusiasm for the Africa rising movement. Look out for great innovations and inventors long after the populous has forgotten about the significance of Marvel’s Black Panther. From clean fuels, to alternative/smarter/environmentally friendly transportation, to medicinal and health breakthroughs, Africa is ideally seated to lead the best of these areas through progressive innovation and strategic partnerships.
