UK industry reacts to Hinkley decision

Stakeholders including energy sector players, trade unions, politicians, analysis firms and trade groups are reacting today to the UK government’s decision to proceed with the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant.

Responses range from enthusiastic support to strong criticism, with concerns raised about job creation, nuclear safety, future energy security, project costs, foreign investment post-Brexit and the correct way to decarbonize the nation’s economy.
